Strategic Agreement Represents a Continued Expansion of Over-the-Air (OTA) Technology Provider Integration into Airbiquity’s Software & Data Management Offering
Seattle, WA – June 8, 2016 – Airbiquity®, a global leader in connected car services, today announced an agreement with EnGIS Technologies® to integrate the EnGIS DM Differential Tool and Software Installer Client into Airbiquity’s recently launched Software & Data Management offering. This strategic agreement represents the continued expansion of over-the-air (OTA) technology provider integration into the company’s Software & Data Management solution for the configuration and automation of large-scale vehicle software update and data collection campaigns using its Choreo™ cloud-based service delivery platform.
Cloud-based OTA vehicle software update campaigns for software related recalls—including cybersecurity breaches—is forecasted to provide huge financial benefits to automakers in the years ahead. Worldwide automaker cost savings for OTA software updates are projected to grow from $2.7 billion in 2015 to over $35 billion by 2022, according to IHS. Additionally, OTA software updates will enable automakers to achieve faster recall compliance, eliminate the time intensive consumer burden of bringing vehicles to dealers for repairs, and deliver post-purchase performance and feature enhancements contributing to customer satisfaction and loyalty.
“Remote software updates represent an undeniable opportunity for automakers and consumers alike, but making them happen in automotive is very complex due to the wide ecosystem of electronics and software suppliers supporting vehicle platforms and systems,” said Scott Frank, Vice President of Marketing at Airbiquity. “Airbiquity is committed to helping automotive customers manage and automate this complexity with our Software & Data Management solution, and the inclusion of OTA technology from leading providers like EnGIS.”
“EnGIS is looking forward to joining Airbiquity's growing ecosystem of technology providers supporting their Software & Data Management offering,” said Martin Carr, Vice President of EnGIS Technologies. “Integrating our DM Differential Tool and Software Installer Client into Airbiquity’s solution is a great opportunity to work with an established and innovative telematics service delivery provider to further extend our automotive market engagement.”
