Airbiquity, Cloudera, NXP, Teraki, and Wind River have teamed up to provide an integrated solution from vehicle edge to cloud addressing the challenges associated with a fragmented machine learning data management lifecycle. The group has collaborated to define, implement and offer a data lifecycle platform enabling and optimizing future connected and autonomous vehicle systems. The state-of-the-art hardware, software, and cloud data platform used for data collection, analysis, and OTA updates showcases continuous training and improvement of advanced use cases and autonomous driving functions for production vehicles.
Airbiquity's industry-leading OTAmatic software and data management offering features the compromise-resilient Uptane Security Framework. OTAmatic reliably and securely orchestrates and automates vehicle software updates and data management from the cloud, utilizing Uptane along with security signing management tools and processes to guarantee authenticity and integrity of software updates transmitted and installed in the vehicle.
Uptane’s open standard automotive software update security framework was developed with support from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, New York University (NYU) Tandon School of Engineering, University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI), Southwest Research Institute (SWRI), and leading automakers and suppliers. Uptane provides the foundation for Airbiquity OTAmatic’s defense-in-depth security approach for automotive OTA leveraging automotive grade standards-based certification, authentication, and encryption technologies and processes.
This integration highlights the interoperability between Airbiquity’s OTAmatic service delivery capability and NXP’s secure Vehicle Network Processing (VNP) platform managing multiple ECUs for a variety of software update campaign scenarios and automaker and automotive supplier OTA use cases. Working together, the automotive-grade technologies serve as a primary ECU/OTA gateway for efficient, secure, and highly-scalable multi-ECU software updates and data collection.
Airbiquity and Teraki software technology works in tandem to provide automakers the flexibility to conduct real-time data analytics in the vehicle or in the cloud. Through Teraki’s embedded pre-processing data analytics technology, OTAmatic users can process, store, and send 10 times more data compared with other technologies while achieving the highest accuracy levels in data analytics. Along with supporting a wide range of future use cases to increase vehicle performance and safety, this integration boosts consumer satisfaction with connected vehicles, autonomous vehicles, and new mobility services.
This collaboration integrates key technologies for the development of an end-to-end software lifecycle management solution for connected and autonomous vehicles, spanning vehicle to cloud. The solution enables secure and intelligent over-the-air (OTA) software updates and data management. Together, Wind River and Airbiquity provide the automotive industry an open and flexible OTA solution combining market-leading software technology components to create a comprehensive, interoperable, pre-validated OTA solution backed by the expertise of two industry-leading software technology companies.
Airbiquity and STMicroelectronics (ST) integrated Airbiquity’s OTAmatic software and data management offering into ST’s Telemaco3P Evaluation Board (MTP) telematics processor serving as a primary ECU/OTA gateway for efficient, secure, and scalable multi-ECU software updates and data collection. This demonstration highlights the interoperability between Airbiquity’s cloud-based OTA service delivery capability and ST’s on-board Telemaco3P MTP platform supporting multiple embedded ECUs for a variety of OTA software update campaign scenarios.
Combining Airbiquity’s OTAmatic® OTA software update, data management, and upgradeable edge analytics module features with SafeRide’s vSentryTM multi-layer cybersecurity solution provides automakers and automotive suppliers with a robust cybersecurity system for connected vehicles. When the SafeRide vSentry anomaly detection module running in OTAmatic’s data agent detects a vehicle cyberattack an alert is sent to the OTAmatic cloud which can transmit and install a software update to remedy the vulnerability and restore protection.
To prepare for the upcoming autonomous-driving era, Airbiquity and Renesas have integrated Airbiquity’s OTAmatic cloud-based OTA software and data management solution on Renesas’ high-performance, low-power R-Car H3 automotive computing platform. The combined solution based on the R-Car H3 System in Package (SIP) is compliant with the ISO 26262 safety functionality (FuSa) standard and creates a powerful, efficient, and secure automotive computing platform with highly targeted and scalable on-demand OTA software update and data management capabilities.
Airbiquity and Arity are preparing for the future of mobility by integrating Airbiquity’s OTAmatic software and data management offering with Arity’s driving behavior modules for secure and highly scalable multi-ECU software updates and data management supporting both cloud processing and in-vehicle “edge” data analytics. This demonstration highlights the interoperability between Airbiquity’s cloud-based OTA service delivery capability and Arity’s driving data analytics platform technology including the integration of Airbiquity back-end service delivery management and Arity driving data and analytics reporting portals.
